As a modern media outlet, we want to meet audiences where they are – or will eventually be. So, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of two new platforms The Fix is present on: a WhatsApp channel and a Threads page.
We practise what we preach; we have covered extensively different channels of distribution of content for publishers, including WhatsApp and Threads.
This piece includes David Tvrdon juxtaposing African and Scandinavian approaches to WhatsApp back in 2021, and here Daryna Shevchenko looked deeper into how African media embraced Meta’s messenger. In a more recent article, Priyal Shah analysed what WhatsApp’s launch of channels globally could mean for the media industry.
As to Threads, Iryna Hoiuk spoke to three newsrooms at the dawn of Instagram’s text-focused platform, while Bohuslav Romanenko checked in to see how major publishers are doing on Threads four months since its launch.
We plan to use our WhatsApp channel to share our own reporting whenever new materials come out, and at this stage we view Threads as an alternative to X (Twitter), hoping to see some activity from our audience willing to share their thoughts on a given topic.
We hope you’ll opt in to be part of the conversation!
