The winners and runner-ups of the 10th European Press Prize were announced on June 2 during a ceremony in Madrid.

The prizes were awarded in four categories: Distinguished Reporting, Innovation, Investigative reporting, and Public Discourse. The judges also presented a Special Award for “for excellent journalism to one striking entry which defies categories and disciplines”.

Olga Rudenko, editor-in-chief of The Kyiv Independent, was a special speaker at the award ceremony, speaking about “the importance and direction of journalism during these uncertain times.”

This year’s nominees tackle issues around Europe’s economy and democracy, from the investigation into Finish police to a look into propaganda and narratives in today’s world.
