Last week, Notes from Poland, English-language media on Polish current affairs, announced the creation of a network of media outlets which will report on Central and Eastern Europe on English. The project aims to bring more international attention to the region which is frequently underreported in English.
The network will unite several independent media organizations from across the region in reporting on their focus topics, namely “democracy, the rule of law, civil society, human rights and media freedom in the region”. The project is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy.
Currently, the network has been joined by outlets from Hungary, Ukraine, and Poland, as well as several cross-border publications, with an opportunity for more outlets to join. Its first publications are devoted to the topics of media freedoms and LGBT rights in Eastern Europe.
