After a winter devoted to work, spring presents media professionals with various events that can help learn, network and get a needed jolt of inspiration.

You can find more recommendations in our flagship weekly newsletter, but in the meantime, here are eight media events to attend in-person or online this spring.

International Journalism Festival

When: April 17-21 

Where: Perugia, Italy

The biggest annual media event in Europe will be held for the 18th time in 2024, with the English-language part of the programme taking place on April 18-20.

As usual, hundreds of speakers are expected. All sessions are free for all attendees, without tickets and without registration.

INMA World Congress of News Media

When: April 22-26 

Where: London, UK

The INMA World Congress of News Media is a conference for leaders and executives from top news media companies worldwide. Held in London, the event will explore how the news media is transforming in the new era of artificial intelligence. 

The program examines this evolution through four major themes – digital transformation, the disruptive rise of generative AI, navigating competitive friction in the London market, and the global expansion of British media.

The PPA Festival 2024: turning optimism into action

When: April 23 

Where: London, UK

The PPA Festival 2024 promises to provide a day of learning, networking, and industry discovery to help publishing professionals elevate their businesses. The event will address strategies across B2B and B2C areas such as product development, content creation, audience growth, data, sales and talent management. 

2024 Media Impact Forum

When: May 21-22

Where: New York, US and online

The 2024 Media Impact Forum is a two-day gathering centred around media philanthropy. On the first day, participants will see a showcase of innovative impactful projects and networking opportunities. The second day will feature focused discussions within three tracks: climate-focused media, international journalism and local journalism.

Newsrewired

When: May 22

Where: London, UK

Organised by Journalism.co.uk, Newsrewired brings together media executives, journalists, academics, and experts to share the latest experiences in digital publishing. The conferences provide both strategic panels and hands-on workshops.

IPI World Congress and Media Innovation Festival

When: May 22-24

Where: Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina

The 2024 IPI World Congress and Media Innovation Festival will convene leading media figures in Sarajevo. With the theme “Navigating Crises: Journalism at a Turning Point”, the event will offer a forum to explore innovative solutions and critically discuss the media’s role in addressing major crises. 

75th World News Media Conference

When: May 27-29  

Where: Copenhagen, Denmark

This year’s World News Media Conference brings together the World Association of News Publishers’ flagship events into one global summit to support those navigating and shaping the future of news media in the AI era. The conference will feature three summits, two study tours, workshops, and more.

Dataharvest

When: May 30 – June 2 

Where: Mechelen, Belgium

The Dataharvest conference serves as a collaborative hub for European investigative journalists. Conference days incorporate learning, inspiration, and joint work, “like a European editorial meeting”.
