Editor’s note: we are republishing a version of the note that previously appeared as a special edition of The Fix Media’s flagship newsletter. Subscribe to get everything you need to know about the European media market every Monday, along with monthly special reports.
What is the most challenging part of an editor’s job? How does a data journalist at The Economist choose the topics they work on? Who is on the team led by a head of audience development? And is there life after leaving the news media for a different field?
For the past months we at The Fix have been cataloguing different jobs in the media industry. We ask leading news media professionals about their positions – what they actually do, how they make decisions, what excites them about their work, and what they can advise people interested in a similar role.
The idea is to help newcomers get their foot in the door, but also to enable leading news industry professionals to highlight the work they are doing and share advice with their peers.
Check below for a few highlights from the series. And we’d love to hear from you. If you work in or around the news media industry and don’t mind sharing more about your work to our readers, fill out this brief form.
